Pair of Green Flower Patches Iron Sew On Crafts Denim Jeans Flowers Patch Badge

Bring a bold botanical touch to clothing, denim and creative projects with this eye-catching pair of green embroidered flower patches. Featuring an elaborate floral arrangement of open flowers, smaller buds, layered leaves and sweeping stems, these appliqué patches are perfect for adding colour and decorative embroidery to otherwise plain fabrics.

The design combines bright lime and fresh green shades with deeper green outlines and contrasting gold-toned embroidery. Fine golden stitches accent the flower petals and leaves, while the different shades of green create depth throughout the design. The result is a vibrant floral patch that stands out beautifully against denim, black, white and other contrasting fabrics.

The patches are supplied as a coordinating mirrored pair, with one facing left and the other facing right. This makes them especially useful for creating balanced designs on jeans, jackets and other clothing, although they can just as easily be separated and used on different projects.

Each individual patch measures approximately 6.9 cm Width x 11.8 cm Height.

Add a Fresh Floral Look to Clothing

If you enjoy customising your clothes, these green flower patches offer an easy way to make everyday garments more individual.

The tall floral arrangement combines a prominent open flower with a smaller bud and multiple leaves. Decorative stitching follows the shape of the petals and foliage, giving the embroidery a detailed, textured appearance.

They can be used on many suitable fabric items, including:

  • Denim jeans and trousers
  • Denim jackets and waistcoats
  • Shirts and blouses
  • T-shirts and tops
  • Dresses and skirts
  • Shorts
  • Coats and jackets
  • Tote bags and fabric bags
  • Backpacks
  • Fabric accessories
  • Handmade clothing
  • Sewing projects
  • Textile crafts
  • Upcycling projects

As well as decorating clothing, patches can be a creative way to disguise a small mark, stain, worn area or minor hole. Instead of throwing away an otherwise usable garment, adding embroidered flowers can turn the affected area into an intentional feature.

Creative Ways to Use Your Green Flower Patches

The mirrored design gives you lots of possibilities for arranging the pair.

Give denim jeans a new look

These patches are particularly suited to customising denim. Position one flower on each trouser leg, place them alongside the front pockets or decorate the back pocket area.

For something less symmetrical, place one patch high on one leg and the other lower down on the opposite side. The vertical shape of the floral design works particularly well running down the leg of a pair of jeans.

Create your own embroidered denim jacket

Place one patch on either side of the front of a denim jacket to create a balanced botanical design. They can be positioned alongside the lapels, above or below pockets, or towards the bottom corners.

Alternatively, arrange both patches together across the back of the jacket to create a much larger floral feature.

Decorate a skirt or dress

Try placing the flowers near the bottom of a skirt or dress, around pockets or on opposite sides of the garment. Their bright green colouring can create an attractive contrast against darker fabrics.

Personalise shirts and tops

A plain shirt, blouse or suitable top can be given a completely different appearance by adding one or both patches. Try positioning them near the shoulders, chest or lower corners.

Transform a plain bag

The patches can also be used on suitable fabric tote bags, backpacks and other accessories. Position the pair facing one another for a symmetrical display or use a single flower as an accent.

Make coordinating pieces

You do not need to use both patches on the same item. Use one on a denim jacket and the second on a pair of jeans, or combine one with a matching fabric bag to create coordinating pieces.

Use them in craft projects

Incorporate the patches into textile crafts, handmade bags, decorative fabric panels and other sewing projects. They can also be combined with other patches, trims and embroidery to build a larger personalised design.

How to Iron On the Green Flower Patches

The patches feature an iron-on backing, allowing them to be attached conveniently to many suitable fabrics.

Before starting, always check the care label of the garment or fabric. The material must be able to tolerate the heat required to activate the adhesive. Delicate, coated, waterproof, stretchy or heat-sensitive fabrics may not be suitable for ironing and should normally have the patches sewn on instead.

Step 1 – Prepare the fabric

Make sure your jeans, garment or fabric is clean and completely dry.

Lay the item on a firm, flat and heat-resistant surface. Smooth out any creases around the area where you want to attach the patch.

Briefly iron the fabric before positioning the patch. This helps remove moisture and wrinkles and gives you a smooth surface to work with.

Step 2 – Decide on the position

Place the patch onto the fabric with the green embroidered design facing upwards and the adhesive backing against the material.

Take some time to experiment with the position before applying any heat.

If you are using both patches symmetrically, measure their distance from a seam, pocket, waistband or other fixed point to help achieve an even arrangement.

Step 3 – Protect the embroidery

Place a thin cotton cloth or pressing cloth over the patch.

The protective cloth prevents the hot iron from coming directly into contact with the embroidered threads.

Do not place the iron directly onto the exposed embroidery.

Step 4 – Apply the iron

Set the iron to a suitable medium-to-high temperature for the fabric and make sure the steam function is switched off.

Press the iron firmly onto the covered patch for approximately 20–30 seconds.

Apply steady downward pressure rather than continuously moving the iron backwards and forwards.

Make sure heat reaches the entire design. Pay particular attention to the pointed leaves, outer flower petals and ends of the stems, as these narrower sections need to be securely bonded.

Step 5 – Heat from the reverse

Where possible, turn the garment inside out after heating the front.

Place the iron over the reverse side of the patch area and apply firm pressure for approximately another 20–30 seconds.

Heating from the reverse can help activate the adhesive evenly through the fabric and improve the overall attachment.

Step 6 – Allow everything to cool

Leave the garment lying flat and allow the patch to cool completely.

Do not immediately pull at the edges or flex the fabric. The adhesive continues to set as it cools.

Once cool, gently inspect the edges of the patch. If you find an area that has not completely bonded, cover it with the cotton cloth and apply heat again for a short period.

Avoid washing the item immediately after application to give the adhesive plenty of time to settle.

How to Sew On the Flower Patches

The patches can also be sewn onto your garment or craft project.

Sewing is particularly useful for materials that cannot safely withstand a hot iron. It is also an excellent choice for jeans, jackets and other items that receive frequent wear.

First, position the patch exactly where you want it.

Secure it temporarily with sewing pins or a few loose holding stitches so that it remains flat and does not move while you work.

Choose a strong thread. Green thread can blend particularly well with the embroidered outer border and help make your attachment stitches less noticeable.

Thread a hand-sewing needle and tie a secure knot at the end.

Begin from the reverse side of the fabric so the knot remains hidden.

Bring the needle through close to the outer embroidered border and make small, neat stitches around the edge.

Follow the shape of the flowers and leaves carefully. Smaller stitches can make it easier to work around curves and pointed sections.

Take particular care to secure the tips of the leaves and narrow ends of the stems. These areas can be more likely to catch during wear if they are not firmly attached.

Continue sewing around the complete outline until the patch is securely fixed.

Finish on the reverse side of the garment and tie the thread firmly.

Repeat with the second patch if required.

Iron On and Sew On for Extra Security

For frequently worn items such as denim jeans and jackets, you may prefer to combine both attachment methods.

First iron the patch into your chosen position following the instructions above.

Allow it to cool completely and then add small stitches around the outer edge.

The adhesive helps keep the patch flat and correctly positioned, while the additional stitching gives extra security during regular wear and washing.

This method is also particularly useful for bags and backpacks.

When Should You Sew Instead of Iron?

Ironing is convenient for many cotton and denim fabrics, but sewing can be preferable when working with:

  • Delicate materials
  • Heat-sensitive synthetic fabrics
  • Stretchy clothing
  • Waterproof materials
  • Coated fabrics
  • Heavily textured fabrics
  • Frequently washed garments
  • Heavily used bags and accessories

If you are unsure whether your fabric can withstand the required ironing temperature, sewing is the safer option.

Caring for Your Decorated Clothing

Once the patches are attached, a little extra care can help preserve the embroidered design.

Where possible, turn clothing inside out before washing. Use a moderate washing temperature and avoid unnecessarily harsh washing cycles.

Allow the item to dry naturally where practical.

Check the patch edges occasionally after repeated washing and wear. If an ironed section begins to lift, it can be reheated using a protective cloth or secured with a few small stitches.
