Black & Gold Anchor Patch – Iron or Sew On Sailor Embroidered Badge

Size: 7.5cm (W) × 9.3cm (H)

Bring classic maritime style to your outfit or accessories with this striking Black & Gold Anchor Patch. Featuring a bold anchor design stitched in rich gold thread against a deep black background, this embroidered badge delivers a timeless nautical look with a premium finish.

The detailed stitching gives the patch strong texture and depth, making it a standout piece while still blending beautifully with darker fabrics. Whether you’re creating a sailor costume, upgrading everyday clothing, or customising bags and gear, this anchor patch adds character, heritage, and visual impact.

Larger than your mini patches, this badge is perfect as a centrepiece on jackets or bags, making it ideal for statement customisation. It works equally well for fancy dress, themed outfits, biker or streetwear styling, or DIY fashion projects.

The patch comes with a heat-activated adhesive backing for iron-on application and can also be sewn on for maximum durability, giving you full control over how permanent you’d like the attachment to be.

Because of its size and bold design, it looks fantastic on denim jackets, bomber jackets, hoodies, coats, sailor costumes, fancy dress outfits, or stage clothing. Many customers also attach it to backpacks, duffel bags, tote bags, gym bags, or travel luggage. It’s popular for nautical-themed weddings, cosplay, festivals, work aprons, boat gear, or costume parties. Crafters often use it on handmade gifts, cushion covers, scrapbook projects, or custom apparel, while creatives love adding it to jackets or bags as a strong focal point.

🔥 How to Iron On (Extra Detailed Instructions)

Iron-on application works best on cotton, denim, canvas, and similar heat-safe fabrics.

  1. If your garment is new, wash and dry it first to remove any factory coatings that may affect adhesion.

  2. Set your iron to medium heat (cotton setting) and ensure steam is completely switched OFF.

  3. Place your garment flat on a firm, heat-resistant surface such as an ironing board or table. Smooth out all wrinkles.

  4. Position the patch exactly where you want it, shiny adhesive side facing down onto the fabric. Take time to centre it properly, especially if placing on jackets or bags.

  5. Cover the patch with a thin cloth, tea towel, or baking paper to protect the embroidery from direct heat.

  6. Press the iron firmly straight down onto the patch for 20–25 seconds, applying steady pressure without sliding.

  7. Lift the iron, rotate the garment slightly, and press again for another 10–15 seconds to ensure even heat across the entire patch.

  8. Turn the garment inside out and press directly behind the patch for 20 seconds to fully activate the adhesive through the fabric.

  9. Lay the garment flat and allow it to cool completely for at least 5 minutes before touching or moving the patch.

After ironing, avoid washing for 24–48 hours. For larger patches like this, sewing around the edge after ironing is strongly recommended for long-term hold, especially on jackets, bags, or costumes.

Important notes:
– Not suitable for nylon, waterproof fabrics, leather, or heat-sensitive materials unless sewn.
– If any edge lifts, simply re-cover with cloth and re-press for another 10–15 seconds.

🧵 How to Sew On (Maximum Durability Method)

Sewing provides the strongest and most reliable attachment, especially for outerwear, bags, or fancy dress costumes.

  1. Place the patch in your desired position and secure it with pins or temporary fabric glue.

  2. Thread a needle with strong polyester or cotton thread (black or gold works best).

  3. Starting from inside the garment, push the needle up through the edge of the patch so the knot remains hidden underneath.

  4. Sew evenly around the entire border using small straight stitches, whip stitches, or a zig-zag stitch for extra strength.

  5. Keep stitch spacing consistent and gently pull the thread snug after each stitch without puckering the fabric.

  6. Continue until you’ve sewn all the way around the patch.

  7. Finish on the inside of the garment with a tight double knot and trim any excess thread.

For heavy-use items like backpacks or jackets, sewing a second pass around the edge adds extra durability.
