Mini Northern Ireland Flag Patch – Iron or Sew On Embroidered Badge

Size: 4.5cm (W) × 3cm (H)

Add a distinctive Northern Irish touch to your clothing or accessories with this Mini Northern Ireland Flag Patch. Featuring the traditional Ulster banner design in crisp embroidered detail, this compact badge is ideal for personalising everyday wear, sports clothing, travel gear, or handmade projects.

Small but striking, this patch is neatly stitched for durability while remaining lightweight and discreet. Whether you’re representing Northern Ireland, celebrating heritage, supporting your team, or customising your favourite items, this badge offers a clean and professional finish without overpowering your design.

The patch is fitted with a heat-activated adhesive backing for simple iron-on application and can also be sewn on for a permanent hold, giving you flexibility depending on how and where you plan to use it.

Its compact size makes it perfect for football shirts, hoodies, jackets, denim, caps, or beanies. Many people also use it on backpacks, gym bags, drawstring sports bags, lunch bags, laptop sleeves, or travel luggage. It’s great for adding character to school bags, festival outfits, work aprons, cycling gear, or motorbike clothing. Crafters often incorporate it into memory quilts, scrapbook covers, pencil cases, or custom gifts, while travellers like attaching it to rucksacks or camera bags as a meaningful keepsake.

🔥 How to Iron On (Very Detailed Instructions)

Best suited for cotton, denim, canvas, or similar heat-safe fabrics.

  1. Set your iron to medium heat (cotton setting) and turn steam completely OFF.

  2. Place your garment on a firm, heat-resistant surface such as an ironing board or table. Make sure the area is smooth and wrinkle-free.

  3. Position the patch exactly where you want it, with the shiny adhesive side facing down onto the fabric.

  4. Cover the patch with a thin cloth, tea towel, or baking paper to protect the embroidery from direct heat.

  5. Press the iron firmly on top of the patch for 15 seconds, applying steady downward pressure. Do not slide the iron.

  6. Carefully flip the garment inside out and press directly behind the patch for another 12–15 seconds to fully activate the adhesive through the fabric.

  7. Lay the garment flat and allow it to cool completely for at least 3 minutes before touching or moving the patch.

Important notes:
– Do not wash for 24 hours after ironing.
– For items that bend, stretch, or receive heavy use (T-shirts, bags, sleeves, shoulders), sewing around the edges after ironing is strongly recommended.
– Not suitable for nylon, waterproof, or heat-sensitive fabrics unless sewn.

🧵 How to Sew On (Maximum Durability Method)

  1. Place the patch in your desired position and secure it with pins or temporary fabric glue.

  2. Thread a needle with strong polyester or cotton thread (matching colour or clear thread works best).

  3. Starting from the inside of the garment, push the needle up through the edge of the patch so the knot is hidden underneath.

  4. Sew small, even stitches around the entire border of the patch. You can use straight stitches for a clean look or a zig-zag stitch for extra strength.

  5. Keep your spacing consistent and gently pull the thread snug after each stitch.

  6. Once you’ve gone all the way around, finish on the inside of the fabric with a tight double knot and trim any excess thread.

Sewing provides the strongest attachment and is ideal for backpacks, sportswear, hats, jackets, or any item that will be washed frequently or worn regularly.
