🔥 How to Iron On (Very Detailed Instructions)
Iron-on application works best on cotton, denim, canvas, and similar heat-safe fabrics.
-
If your garment is new, wash and dry it first to remove any factory coatings that may affect adhesion.
-
Set your iron to medium heat (cotton setting) and make sure steam is completely switched OFF.
-
Place your garment flat on a firm, heat-resistant surface such as an ironing board or table. Smooth out any wrinkles.
-
Position the patch exactly where you want it, shiny adhesive side facing down onto the fabric. Take a moment to align it properly.
-
Cover the patch with a thin cloth, tea towel, or baking paper to protect the embroidery from direct heat.
-
Press the iron straight down onto the patch for 15–20 seconds, applying firm, steady pressure. Do not slide the iron.
-
Lift the iron, rotate the garment slightly, and press again for another 10 seconds to ensure even heat coverage across the whole patch.
-
Turn the garment inside out and press directly behind the patch for 15 seconds to fully activate the adhesive through the fabric.
-
Lay the garment flat and allow it to cool completely for at least 3–5 minutes before touching or moving the patch.
After application, avoid washing for 24–48 hours. For items that bend, stretch, or receive frequent use (bags, shoulders, sleeves, shirts), sewing around the edge after ironing is strongly recommended for long-lasting hold.
Important notes:
– Not suitable for nylon, waterproof fabrics, leather, or heat-sensitive materials unless sewn.
– If any corner lifts, simply re-cover with cloth and re-press for another 10 seconds.
🧵 How to Sew On (Permanent Attachment Method)
Sewing is the strongest option, especially for bags, denim, or frequently washed clothing.
-
Place the patch in position and secure it with pins or temporary fabric glue.
-
Thread a needle with strong polyester or cotton thread (maroon, gold, or clear thread works well).
-
Starting from inside the garment, bring the needle up through the edge of the patch so the knot stays hidden underneath.
-
Stitch evenly around the border using small straight stitches, whip stitches, or a zig-zag stitch for extra strength.
-
Keep spacing consistent and gently pull the thread snug after each stitch without puckering the fabric.
-
Continue until you’ve sewn all the way around the patch.
-
Finish on the inside of the garment with a tight double knot and trim any excess thread.
For heavy-use items like backpacks or travel bags, sewing a second pass around the edge adds extra durability.
