Pair of Orange, Brown & Gold Flower Patches – Iron On & Sew On Embroidered Floral Patches
Add a warm floral detail to clothing and accessories with this beautiful pair of Orange, Brown & Gold Flower embroidered patches. Featuring a large flower in rich orange and brown tones, smaller contrasting blossoms and detailed leaves, the design is finished with gold embroidery through the centre for an attractive decorative effect.
The two patches face opposite directions, making them ideal for creating a balanced or symmetrical design. They have an iron-on backing for easy application and can also be sewn on for a stronger, more permanent attachment.
Size
Each patch measures 6 cm Width × 11.9 cm Height.
How to Iron On
Before applying the patch, make sure the fabric is clean, completely dry and suitable for ironing. Delicate materials and fabrics that cannot withstand high temperatures should be sewn on instead.
Place the patch in your chosen position with the adhesive side facing down against the fabric. Cover the entire patch with a thin cotton cloth or sheet of baking parchment to protect the embroidery from direct contact with the iron.
Set your iron to a medium-high cotton setting, approximately 150–170°C, and make sure the steam is switched off. Press firmly over the patch for approximately 30–45 seconds, applying even pressure across the entire design. Keep the iron relatively still rather than continuously moving it backwards and forwards.
If possible, turn the garment inside out and press the reverse side directly behind the patch for a further 20–30 seconds. Applying heat from the reverse side can help the adhesive bond more securely to the fabric.
Allow the patch to cool completely before touching it or checking the edges. Once cool, gently check that the entire patch has bonded. If an edge lifts, cover the patch again and apply heat to that area for another 10–15 seconds.
For frequently washed clothing or items such as jackets and bags that receive regular use, sewing around the edge after ironing is recommended for additional security.
How to Sew On
Sewing provides a strong and long-lasting attachment and is also a good choice for fabrics that cannot safely be ironed.
Position the patch where you would like it and temporarily secure it with pins or fabric clips. Choose a thread that blends with the embroidered border for a neat finish.
Starting from the reverse side of the fabric, sew around the outer edge using small, evenly spaced stitches. Keep your stitches close to the embroidered border and make sure the patch remains flat while you work around the design. Once completely secure, tie the thread firmly on the reverse side and trim away any excess.
The patches can also be attached using a sewing machine. A straight stitch or narrow zigzag stitch around the outer embroidered edge works well.
Care Instructions
After ironing, allow at least 24 hours before washing so the adhesive has time to set properly. Wash on a gentle cycle where possible and avoid bleach, harsh detergents and excessive heat. Air drying is recommended.
When ironing the garment afterwards, avoid placing the hot iron directly onto the embroidery. Iron from the reverse side or place a protective cotton cloth over the patch.
Ideas for Using Your Flower Patches
The matching mirrored design looks particularly attractive when the patches are positioned on opposite sides of a jacket, shirt, dress or cardigan. They could also be used on shoulders, sleeves, jeans, trouser legs or either side of a bag or backpack.
Use them to customise plain clothing, refresh an older garment, decorate festival outfits or add an embroidered feature to sewing and craft projects. They can also be used to disguise a small hole, stain or worn area while adding something decorative to the item.
The combination of warm orange and brown shades with pink-toned smaller flowers and gold detailing gives these patches a distinctive floral appearance that works especially well with denim, earthy colours and neutral fabrics.
