How to Iron On

Delicate, waterproof, coated, highly elasticated or heat-sensitive fabrics may not be suitable for ironing. For these materials, sewing the patches in place is recommended.

Iron-On Instructions

1. Make sure the garment is clean and completely dry before beginning.
2. Place your jeans, jacket or other garment on a firm, flat and heat-resistant surface.
3. Position the Pink Flower Patch exactly where you would like it. If applying both patches, carefully check the spacing and alignment before applying heat.
4. Set your iron to a medium to high temperature appropriate for the fabric and switch off the steam function.
5. Cover the entire patch with a thin cotton cloth, pressing cloth or clean tea towel. Do not place the hot iron directly onto the embroidered surface.
6. Press the iron firmly onto the covered patch for approximately 20–30 seconds. Apply steady downward pressure rather than continuously sliding the iron backwards and forwards.
7. If possible, turn the garment inside out and press the reverse side of the patch for approximately another 20–30 seconds.
8. Leave the garment lying flat and allow the patch and fabric to cool completely before handling.
9. Once cool, carefully check around the edges to make sure the patch has bonded securely.
10. If an edge or section has not fully attached, replace the protective cloth and carefully apply heat again for a short period.

Different irons and fabrics can require different temperatures and application times, so adjust carefully where necessary. Avoid excessive heat, which could damage either the garment or embroidery.

For jeans, jackets and other clothing that will receive regular wear or frequent washing, we recommend adding several stitches around the patch after ironing for additional security.

How to Sew On

The patches can also be attached by sewing, either instead of ironing or after ironing to provide additional security.

Sewing is an excellent choice for denim jeans and jackets and is recommended for fabrics that cannot safely withstand the heat required for iron-on application.

The patches can be hand sewn or machine sewn depending on your preference.

Hand Sewing Instructions

1. Position the patch carefully on your chosen garment.
2. Temporarily secure it using pins, fabric clips or a few loose holding stitches so that it remains in position.
3. Choose a sewing thread that coordinates with the pink embroidered edging or matches the garment underneath.
4. Thread your needle and secure the end of the thread with a knot.
5. Begin sewing from the reverse side of the garment so that the starting knot remains hidden.
6. Make small, neat stitches around the embroidered outer edge of the patch.
7. Carefully follow the contours of the flowers and leaves, making sure the smaller and narrower areas are also securely attached.
8. Continue until the complete patch sits securely against the fabric.
9. Finish on the reverse side of the garment and secure the thread with a firm knot.
10. Remove any pins, clips or temporary holding stitches.

For thicker denim, using a strong needle suitable for denim or heavier fabrics can make sewing easier.
